Easy enough…I always wanted to live in Tennessee…grew up in Alabama, raised my family and lived on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi for 30 years…now I live in Tennessee…close enough to visit my home state and my adopted home state, yet be grounded just where I love being. Lots of places I wish/plan to visit…..England/Wales…home [...]

A stunning new report reveals that top scientists who convinced the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare H1N1 a global pandemic held close financial ties to the drug companies that profited from the sale of those vaccines. This report, published in the British Medical Journal, exposes the hidden ties that drove WHO to declare a pandemic, resulting in billions of dollars in profits for vaccine manufacturers.

The Color Purple~so much more than a movie.
Studies have found that foods with blue and purple pigments can improve memory, enhance vision, protect against heart attack, act as anti-inflammatories, and even help control weight.
All this plus the vitamin A and beta-carotene of the regular orange carrots gives you the antioxidant compounds of blueberries and Romaine lettuce.
The ’Purple Haze’ carrot can be compared to the original color of carrots cultivated in Afghanistan 5,000 years ago.
When storing carrots don’t do so near apples or pears, they both give off gases that turn carrots bitter.
TIP: Purple Haze will lose much of their lovely color in cooking.
Better to slice thin with regular orange carrots and serve with a yummy dill sauce.**Sage Hill Farms has all the dried ingredients to make this sauce.**
Ingredients
1 (8 ounce) package creamy goat cheese , at room temperature
1 cup Greek style yogurt-plain
2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon sea or pink salt
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill weed
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (optional)The Process)
1.In a medium bowl, blend creamy cheese and yogurt with an electric mixer until smooth. Mix in green onions, salt, dill and garlic. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to blend flavors. If the dip is too thick after chilling, stir in 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk-1 tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
This sauce is good for most any vegetable and even on salmon and baked potatoes.
Enjoy…

Busy day…preparing for the farmers market early tomorrow morning…I will be in the gardens by 6 and set up at the market by 7:30.
We don’t do the market as a rule, but this year we have much more production than we need …so, why not.
Also prepared and have dehydrating the first crop of apricots…so yummy !
Had a heavy rain just at sundown…so the produce will be nice and clean.
Everyone have a good weekend and be safe.

I think this is going to be a very abundant year in the gardens.
The plants are beautiful and healthy-
Herbs are flowing from the beds into the walking paths.
And….today I gathered a large basket of Apricots from our own tree !

This is the first year for any of the fruit trees to bear …peaches are plentiful, slower in growing than the apricots.
The June apple tree is over-loaded….I dry these little goodies for my grandsons to snack on. And, they make awesome apple-sauce.
So far, no pest….I’m grateful~
You are always welcome~

Teri, my hubby is amazing at saving and making our money grow.
We have saved enough over a two year period to pay cash for our upcoming purchase of another automobile. My Jeep is a 1996 with over two hundred thousand miles…still runs like a charm…since we haul a lot of stuff we have to have something with room and stability. We have opted for a 2008 model instead of a new Jeep…it’s been fun saving for this big purchase and with no payment every month…even more fun to drive ~
In reply to - Teri Williams commented on the blog post Living Debt Free Hi Bea, It really is a wonderful way to reconnect with what really matters, simple living. We have loved finding creative ways to fuel our “wants”, like bargain hunting and resale, paying cash for everything. Looking forward to connecting more! Big blissful hugs! [...] · View -

Hi Linda, are you in Jasper, TN. ?
I will check with the founder here and get some correct info for you.
I think there is a chapter in Nashville that can help you more than we could.
They have a much larger bank of resources than our chapter.I’ll get back to you as soon as I gather the info.
Sue ( founder ) here left for Texas yesterday, so as soon as she returns I’m on it~
Do you sell a pet product ?

A few of the ”Sages” at Sage Hill Farms. Almost everything is in bloom already, a bit early for most, I suspect because we have had way too much rain for the normal growing and maturing patterns to work on schedule. When this happens it is hard to keep things from bolting and going to seed to soon…..which means we have to cut back more often to try prolonging the blooming stage.Sage is one of those plants when it is ready to bloom….it blooms, no amount of cutting will alter the intent.
So, we just enjoy the view and be grateful for the abundance.
Sage blooms are wonderful in green salads with apple and mango.
The blooms are beautiful tossed into a punch bowl of lemon-ade.
If you cook cornbread( my first love) ( white cornmeal ) no GM corn. Wash, dry, and arrange about 6 sage leaves on the bottom of the skillet before pouring the batter into it.
The leaves will cook into the crust of the bread and flavor it slightly-and the visual is stunning~

Well you’re really getting the hang of this huh!!! HAHAHA! Love the graphic and glad you figured out we can now use some HTML tags. I’m going to be adding some of this info near the text areas so people know they can do a little bit of formatting to their text.

I Attended the monthly meeting of SAAW this AM ( Southern Alliance for Animal Welfare) While tossing around ideas for raising funds we decided to offer a class around ” cooking with herbs ” which I will teach.
We will charge a fee or one can barter….a place at the counter in exchange for a certain amount of donations (a good nutritional cat/dog food )
The SAAW program offers free food for cats/dogs to people who would otherwise have to give up their pets or not feed them as well as they should. We offer this assistance in exchange for the owners commitment to spay/neuter the pets. This cuts down on animals that eventually end up at the shelter and most often euthanized.
We also offer the food to people who are willing to feed and trap ferrel cats so they too can be spayed.
In just over a year we have transported almost 3,000 animals…mostly cats to the participating vets. This is a wonderful program and very worthy of ones time and talent to make it work.

I will send this information to my daughter. She is dealing with the stray cats taht my dad was feeding before he passed over in June. We need them spayed/neutered and on to homes or a shelter. We cannot support them as a family as they are numerous. Everyone dropped their cats off at the park it seems, right across from his acreage and barn. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Roxanne, I trust you had a good day.
Papa Mike and I were home alone…the children went on a 10 day vacation into the greater parts of the Smoky Mountains about 5 hours from us.Morning rain and super hot afternoon kept me inside most of the day. I did however cut and dry some chives and dill……just can’t stay out of the gardens for long.
The photo is a candle that has long since burned out, the remaining wax makes a perfect medium for holding the small flags…my 8 year old grandson thought of this last summer. Cute kid, cute idea.
See you during the week….
